Accountants play an important role in many businesses and organisations, from large multinationals to small- and medium-size enterprises.
Accountants are responsible for the preparation, interpretation, and use of financial information in management decisions. These days, accountants are no longer confined to ledgers and figures but are at the helm of business operations, decision making, development and marketing, as global businesses have become more aware of the need to adopt international accounting standards - such as the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to address business transparency matters - and corporate governance has gained more prominence in the wake of global fraud cases.
